Michael Chiklis to play border agent in new TV series from Breaking Bad alum
Attention, Shield-heads: Michael Chiklis is returning to a TV screen near you (probably in your living room, I’m guessing) to take care of some gritty law business once again. According to Deadline, Chiklis is joining forces with Breaking Bad vet Michelle MacLaren for Coyote, a new drama series set on the U.S.-Mexico border. In what seems to be a rather timely story, Chiklis will play Agent Ben Clemons, a U.S. Border Patrol agent who’s—get this—one day out from retirement. That’s when Clemons, presumably getting too old for this shit, discovers a secret tunnel used to smuggle “black market goods” across the border from Mexico, which “puts Clemens in the crosshairs of the criminal mastermind he’s spent his career trying to destroy.” So like Hannibal, but it’s about a Border Patrol agent and a crime boss (who probably won’t kiss at the end).
Having Chiklis back on our screens is an exciting prospect, but even more exciting is MacLaren’s involvement. MacLaren, whose credits include some of the best episodes of Breaking Bad and Game Of Thrones, will executive-produce and direct Coyote, which sounds like an aptly complex narrative that explores crime on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. In addition to Coyote, MacLaren is also set to direct the long-developing Cowboy Ninja Viking, starring Chris Pratt.
