Michael Ealy to play a new villain on The Following
In a move that seems like it’s ripped right out of an Edgar Allan Poe story, former robot cop Michael Ealy is returning to the TV network that spurned him in order to get sweet, bloody revenge by becoming the new villain on season three of Fox’s The Following. OK, Poe didn’t write about robot cops too often, but we’re talking about The Following. We have to cram in a Poe reference somewhere.
This comes from Deadline, which reports that Ealy will be “a brilliant, chameleon-like killer” and that he’ll push Kevin Bacon’s character Ryan Hardy “to the brink.” As Deadline points out, the first two seasons of The Following focused primarily on the relationship between Hardy and James Purefoy’s serial killer Joe Carroll, so this casting seems to indicate that Ealy will soon be taking over for Purefoy as the show’s new big villain. Also, Ealy will be listed as a series regular, so Bacon probably won’t be stopping his brilliant, chameleon-like murders any time soon.
Wait, we forgot to cram in another Poe reference. Uhh, how about: Quoth the Raven, “Michael Ealy is going to be on The Following.” That’ll do.
