Michael Fassbender can now add “rock star” to his movie résumé

Since bursting onto the scene with 2008’s Hunger, which inaugurated the era of popular cinema we’ll someday refer to as “Michael Fassbender Movies” (as in, “Then, from 2008-2015, there were Michael Fassbender Movies…”), Michael Fassbender has played a political martyr, a WWII British spy, a centurion, a charismatic porn addict, a renowned psychoanalyst, a hitman of some kind, an android, and a Magneto. Now, at last, Michael Fassbender can add "rock star" to his résumé.

According to Variety, the highly employable (and talented) actor has been cast in the U.K./Irish comedy Frank as the leader of “an eccentric rock band.” (Is there any other kind?) Fassbender is also currently filming The Counselor, Ridley Scott’s adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s first screenplay, slated to reprise his role as Magneto in the forthcoming X-Men: Days Of Future Past, and co-producing and starring in a big-screen adaptation of the Assassin’s Creed video games. Anyone suffering from Fassbender fatigue better buckle up, as it doesn’t look like he’s going anywhere, at least not until his ubiquity fully eclipses that of Channing Tatum or Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
