Michael Fassbender to play two androids in Alien: Covenant

Michael Fassbender is turning into quite the information delivery system for new details about the upcoming Alien: Covenant. Last week, it was the news that there would likely be a new kind of alien called a Neomorph. And now, we get word from Alien-Covenant that Fassbender has again opened his mouth and birthed some further intelligence about the project, almost like he were some kind of programmable being capable of executing perfectly timed functions. In an interview first conducted with The Irish Times, Fassbender revealed that he’ll be providing double the android bang for your buck, should you choose to see Alien: Covenant.

I am allowed to say I am playing two robots—Walter and David. I think what’s great about it is that Ridley has gone back to the original DNA of Alien, the horror element of that. But is also has the scope and the scale of Prometheus. Ridley has cut it already. He is a machine. He is an incredible human being and he was in such good form. He is such an imaginative and mischievous figure.

Reaction to this news has mostly involved speculation about whether ”Walter” will be an advanced model of the same android line, which would make sense, given Fassbender playing both roles. Oddly, less attention has been given to the realization this means Fassbender will now have the chance to be not just the best thing, but the two best things about the latest Ridley Scott film set in the Alien universe.
