Michael Imperioli, Adrian Pasdar, Ed Burns, and Michael Rapaport to deal with middle-aged dude problems for HBO

Only a few weeks after welcoming James Gandolfini back with a bear hug that quickly turned uncomfortable, HBO is also reopening its doors to fellow Sopranos star Michael Imperioli, soothing him over the loss of Detroit 1-8-7 by signing him up for Doug Ellin’s 40. Imperioli will join Heroes’ Adrian Pasdar and ’90s indie film staples Ed Burns and Michael Rapaport in Ellin’s latest ensemble comedy, which concerns a group of lifelong friends dealing with getting older—yet probably still remaining wealthy and generally unaffected by any genuine problems, as this is a Doug Ellin show. Indeed, the Entourage creator seems intent on crafting his very own, presumably much lighter Brahs Of A Certain Age, casting Imperioli as a self-promoting “hustler,” Pasdar as a Wall Street bigwig, Burns as a former Bear Stearns hotshot looking to get back on top, and Rapaport as a “neurotic everyman.” No doubt these dudes will take a hard look at their advancing age and dwindling libidos and conclude that, nevertheless, everything will be all right so long as they still have each other and their dick jokes. (And their lavish New York apartments and millions of dollars, of course.)
