Michelle Pfeiffer joins the MCU as Ant-Man And The Wasp’s Janet Van Dyne
The company still hasn’t released that damn Infinity War trailer, but there was plenty to get excited about in Marvel Studios’ presentation at the San Diego Comic-Con earlier tonight. Among the news about Captain Marvel battling the Skrulls, new Black Panther footage, and that Thor: Ragnarok trailer, there was a lower profile, but equally interesting, announcement: That Michelle Pfeiffer has joined the cast of Ant-Man And The Wasp as Janet Van Dyne. In the comics, Janet Van Dyne was the wife of Hank Pym and mother of Hope Van Dyne, who served as the original Wasp until she was lost in the Quantum Realm. She’s been assumed dead ever since.
This will be a return to comic-book movies for Pfeiffer, who famously portrayed Catwoman in 1992’s Batman Returns. It’ll be her Marvel debut, though. Speaking of, Pfeiffer’s casting was announced at the end of a sizzle reel retracing what’s happened so far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; in the panel that followed, the casting of Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, and Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch in Ant-Man And The Wasp were also confirmed.
