Michelle Williams' jazz hands star in the emotional new trailer for FX's Fosse/Verdon

FX’s Fosse/Verdon is a love story, but it’s also an epic recreation of a pivotal era in the development of modern theatrical performance. Sam Rockwell stars as acclaimed filmmaker and choreographer Bob Fosse, with Michelle Williams co-headlining as his muse and lover, the actress Gwen Verdon. Shades of a real-life A Star Is Born are on display here, as Fosse’s rise coincides with Verdon’s gradual drift into irrelevance and the collapse of their relationship.

The epic story spans five decades, and will incorporate original choreography in addition to some of the pair’s ultra-sexual creations. Joining them will be a who’s who of your Theatre 101 history books, with Norbert Leo Butz’s Paddy Chayefsky, Nate Corddry’s Neil Simon, and Evan Handler’s Hal Prince rounding out the cast. Aya Cash will also co-star as dancer Joan Simon.

Fosse/Verdon, which is executive produced by Lin-Manuel Miranda, thrusts into your eyeballs on April 9.
