Mickey Rourke "born to play" mafia hitman in new film

Many people may have assumed that Mickey Rourke, former professional fighter and dramatic comeback kid, has already enjoyed his role of a lifetime: his Oscar-winning turn as Randy "The Ram" Robinson in Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler. Not so, says Matty Beckerman, producer of the upcoming Ice Man: Confessions Of A Mafia Contract Killer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Beckerman says that Rourke—who has just been attached to the lead role of real-life hitman Richard "The Ice Man" Kuklinski—"was born to play" the sociopathic assassin who led a dual life as a devoted father and husband. The screenplay to Ice Man will be based on Philip Carlo's book of the same name and will be written by David McKenna of Natural History and Blow fame.
