Mike Huckabee calls SNL’s impression of his daughter “sexist,” and he would know
Mike Huckabee spends his days insulting marginalized groups while simultaneously ignoring the fact that his son once killed a dog, so it’s kind of hard to tell just what will set off his decency sensors. But it seems fair to assume that slights against his daughter, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, wouldn’t sit well with the erstwhile politician and talk show host (but never comedian). And Huckabee did dutifully play dad to Huckabee Sanders, who’s the deputy White House Press Secretary, by taking on Saturday Night Live recently.
See, while Huckabee enjoys attempting to get a laugh at the expense of someone whose relatives are Holocaust survivors, he simply won’t stand for Aidy Bryant’s impression of his daughter, which recently involved describing her mother as ”a Southern hamburger.” Huckabee thinks the reference—which, to be honest, isn’t entirely clear—is ”sexist” and “misogynist.” And he would know. So he griped to his friends at Fox News about watching Bryant eat an apple while in the guise of his daughter, calling the whole tableau “a little bit silly, sexist, [and] misogynist, but my daughter is certainly capable of handling a whole lot worse than that.” But Huckabee thinks they’ll get the last laugh anyway, because ”what we taught her, [is] that she’s going to be judged by God, not by some not-so-funny comedy writers on Saturday Night Live.” Luckily, all this pearl clutching hasn’t kept the former governor off of Twitter, where he’s currently (maybe?) dinging The Washington Post.
