Mike Myers' new documentary profiles a beloved music industry insider

The A.V. Club recently suggested that Mike Myers is primed for a comeback, but we didn’t exactly have a documentary in mind. Still, the film does represent an interesting detour for the comedian, who makes his directorial debut with Supermensch: The Legend Of Shep Gordon. The film profiles Gordon, a music business and Hollywood insider, who managed Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd, and Luther Vandross, produced films including They Live and The People Under The Stairs, and in managing Emeril Lagasse, effectively invented the TV celebrity chef. The film appears to be little more than a hagiography from Gordon’s famous friends, but it could be an interesting glimpse at showbiz’s usually sordid inner life through the eyes of a man everyone seems to insist is the “nicest guy in the world.”
