Deadline is serving up a heaping spoonful of alphabet soup as it reports that Mila Kunis and Rob Zombie have teamed up to executive produce a half-hour horror-comedy series written and created by Arrested Development co-producer Joey Slamon. How these three ended up in the same room, let alone decided to work together, is presumably the stuff wacky, star-studded sitcoms are made of. Perhaps they shared a box at the Clippers game? All piled into the same Uber? Got into a fist fight over their share of California’s rapidly depleting water supply? We may never know.
We do know that the show ”takes place over a single night in the home of a wealthy family under attack by a murderous cult,” a plot that has been hashed and re-hashed in several post-Manson horror flicks. We also know that Zombie will direct, which means Sheri Moon Zombie will probably play the cult leader, and wear clown makeup or something ridiculous like that.
This is the newest development in Starz’ apparent plan to show Ryan Murphy that he didn’t invent shit. The first was the Sam Raimi-directed, Bruce Campbell-starring Ash Vs. Evil Dead, which premieres Halloween night.
