Miles Teller wants to make a Fantastic Four sequel for some reason

Although it’s been established that the 2015 Fantastic Four reboot was a joyless mess of a film, there’s still some intrigue about its production. There’s Josh Trank’s theory that he actually made a “fantastic” one that somehow disappeared on its way to wide release, which is supported by Doctor Doom himself, Toby Kebbell. And for Kate Mara, the film remains unseen, just like her character. Fox probably isn’t moving forward with a sequel, even though that would break writer Simon Kinberg’s heart. And, despite the scathing reviews, Michael B. Jordan would says he’d totally return for another installment.

All of this makes us wonder just what the hell happened before the movie hit theaters—did the cast and crew share some kind of near-death experience that’s bound them together for life? Because even though the actors who played the superhero team all have various projects on the horizon—Jordan’s going to be in Black Panther, for crying out loud—they remain strangely invested in the dull movie they made together. For his part, Teller recently told Jo Blo that he’d love to make a Fantastic Four 2. The War Dogs actor effused over his cast mates and the movie’s Avengers-like dynamic (or is it the other way around?):

Yeah, for sure. I loved the cast, I loved the characters. I think it’s such an interesting dynamic. I love how much they really need to rely on each other. This Avengers thing, they’ve kind of created their own Fantastic Four in a way, Marvel’s first family. Their powers can’t just exist on their own, you need Thor to do this, the Hulk to do his thing. So yeah, absolutely, I would do another one.

When asked about the critical panning the movie received, Teller just says it hasn’t put him off from the superhero genre. And that’s great, but he probably shouldn’t bother making another one of these with Trank.
