Misheard lyrics bring pee, Thai food, and “penguin llamas” to the Disney canon

One common bonding exercise for children of the ’90s is to share exactly how they misheard the opening Zulu lines in The Lion King’s “The Circle Of Life.” And now YouTuber pleated-jeans has made that experience universal with his brand new video, “Misheard Song Lyrics: Disney Edition.”

It’s not just foreign languages that can be confusing to the untrained ear; Disney’s animated musicals boast famously verbose lyrics from the likes of Howard Ashman, Tim Rice, Robert Lopez, and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, so it’s understandable that complex lines get misheard from time to time. For instance in Aladdin’s “Friend Like Me” the lyrics, “I’m here to answer all your midday prayers / You got me bona fide, certified / You got a genie for your chare d’affaires,” easily become, “I’m here to answer all your big damn plans / You got me boner city, certified / You got a genie, for he charged and fell.”

Thankfully for those who want to feel they’re not alone in the weird shit they misheard as kids, this video covers the whole pantheon of Disney animation history—from the seven dwarves singing about dicks in 1937’s Snow White to a prince singing about fucking in 2013’s Frozen.
