Missy Elliott remixes Diplo and Skrillex’s “Take Ü There”
Fresh off her not-quite-surprise appearance during Katy Perry’s Super Bowl XLIX halftime show, Missy Elliott has remixed “Take Ü There,” a Diplo and Skrillex (who collaborate together under the name Jack Ü) effort featuring Kiesza. Elliott hasn’t released a full album since 2005’s The Cookbook, partially due to her public battle with Graves disease, but she still drops the occasional fire track with Timbaland and arguably stole the halftime show from Perry. (Only Left Shark was more magnetic.) On “Take Ü There (Feat. Kiesza) (Missy Elliott Remix),” she adds powerful lines to a song already pounding with energy, rapping, “You so open I’m calling you / I’m the main chick not a substitute.”
Timbaland told Rolling Stone last year that a new Elliott album is coming, declaring, “It’s just a matter of when she wants to do it. We got the hollow-tip bullet in the gun. We have the game-changer right there.” Until that album becomes a reality, her fans can at least play this, possibly the most notable remix with an umlaut in the name, on repeat.
