Moody, possibly possessed teens inhabit Amityville: The Awakening trailer
A single mother and her three children fall victim to the economy and possible demonic possession in the trailer for Amityville: The Awakening, which is, fittingly enough, a Blumhouse production. Joan (Jennifer Jason Leigh) is raising three kids, including teenage twins Belle and James (Bella Thorne and Cameron Monaghan, respectively), on her own. To save money and keep the comatose James close to the “best neurological department” in New York, the family moves into the same murder house we’ve seen in previous Amityville installments. (Dutch Colonials must be rare indeed if the townspeople are so unwilling to just bulldoze the damn thing after the previous massacre.)
Belle’s not happy about the move or her ailing brother, as evidenced by her all-black ensembles and heavy eyeliner. But she’ll soon have worse things to contend with as the house lights flicker, James regains consciousness, and a swarm of flies attacks a doctor played by Kurtwood Smith. There’s also the requisite small child who skulks about in the middle of the night to provide some (un)intentional scares.
Amityville: The Awakening hits theaters on April 1.
