Moonlight’s André Holland is in talks for Steve McQueen’s new movie

André Holland won over audiences this year with his sensitive performance and incredible smoking skills in Moonlight, pretty much guaranteeing that we’d be seeing him in movies for years to come. While’s he has already signed up for Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle In Time, it a looks like he’ll be a part of the upcoming Steve McQueen movie, Widows, as well. According to Variety, he’s in talks for a role in the thriller that has already cast Viola Davis as one of the titular women who take over for their dead bank robber husbands. And if all of that weren’t enticing enough, this project, which is based on a 1980s BBC series, is being co-written by Gone Girls Gillian Flynn. Aside from Davis and now Holland, McQueen has also cast Cynthia Erivo, fresh off a Tony-winning run in The Color Purple. Holland is now presently on Broadway in August Wilson’s Jitney.
