More comic book movies on the way

As "comics week" kicks off here at The A.V. Club, we invite fans of the sequential arts to read this article from The Hollywood Reporter, which notes the large number of film, TV and video projects that DC Comics has in various stages of development. A feature film version of the gothic western Jonah Hex just wrapped, The Losers is about to start filming, Green Lantern has its star signed, a TV version of The Human Target will be airing this fall, and comics-friendly writers (including Geoff Johns, Marv Wolfman and Grant Morrison) are in the early stages of working on properties like The Flash, Aquaman, Shazam, The Teen Titans, and even Bizarro. But perhaps the most interesting part of the article is the information about DC/Warner's straight-to-video animated superhero series, which has been a solid hit, regularly returning two or three times their low budgets. Looks like there'll be plenty for members of the geek tribe to rally around (or loudly denounce) over the next few years.
