Morrissey cancels Iceland show due to venue’s “cannibalistic flesh-eating bloodlust”

Of all the lovable scamps in rock music, is there a lovable scamp more lovable and scamp-like than Morrissey? He’s like a lightning rod for complicated drama, and also complicated emotions that teenagers (and teenagers-at-heart) often find themselves suffering from. Back in August, we reported that he was dropped from his label, then we reported that he actually wasn’t, then we reported that he totally was, and then we reported another thing about it. Honestly, we don’t really remember where that whole mess ended up, but that’s probably for the best.

The latest Morrissey shenanigan comes to us from the lovely green land that is Iceland, where Moz decided to cancel a concert in Reykjavik after the venue refused to stop selling meat on the night of the show. According to fan site True To You (via the BBC), Morrissey released a statement saying, “I love Iceland and I have waited a long time to return, but I shall leave the Harpa Concert Hall to their cannibalistic flesh-eating bloodlust.” As a vegetarian, Morrissey has been a vocal opponent of cannibalistic flesh-eating bloodlust for years, so this move isn’t especially surprising for him. He has proven that he’s serious about this “no meat in the venue” rule, though, so future concert halls will probably have to make a note of this if they don’t want to upset lovable Ol’ Moz.
