Movie fans, you have your lesser players in the N.W.A biopic now
It was with breathless anticipation that you awaited the casting news for the main players in F. Gary Gray’s N.W.A biopic, which is due out next summer. We’ve already filled you in on the nepotastic choice of Ice Cube’s son (who will, naturally, play Cube), as well as the actors who will portray vital rappers Eazy-E and Dr. Dre. Well, hold on to your hats, because the production has now cast two more members of N.W.A, a.k.a. the ones you never really hear about: Aldis Hodge (who has appeared in one episode of Rectify and one of The Walking Dead, and who also played Ray “Voodoo” Tatum on Friday Night Lights) will portray MC Ren, while Neil Brown, Jr. (another Walking Dead one-timer) will portray DJ Yella. Don’t expect either to talk very much in the film; do expect the genesis of the line “me and Lorenzo / rollin’ in a Benzo” to be depicted onscreen. Watch this space for casting news about Arabian Prince, who we’re told is available and willing to work for scale.
