MTV announces premiere date and new cast for Scream season 2
MTV’s Scream series didn’t set the slasher world on fire like the original movie, but it did manage to accomplish some other goals. Namely, it got enough people to tune in and watch teenagers getting killed that MTV renewed it for a second season halfway through the first one. Now, according to Deadline, the network has released a premiere date for the second season, as well as a list of actors who will be joining the show when it comes back. The newbies are singer Kiana Ledé, Santiago Segura, Anthony Ruivivar, Austin Highsmith, Sean Grandillo, and Karina Logue, and they’ll be joining returning screamers Willa Fitzgerald, John Karna, Tom Maden, Tracy Middendorf, Amadeus Serafini, Bex Taylor-Klaus, and Carlson Young. Most of the new additions will be playing high school students/possible serial killers, but there will also be a new “outspoken, competent, and experienced cop” (slash possible serial killer) played by Ruivivar and an “idealistic high school psychology teacher” (slash possible serial killer) played by Highsmith.
Season two of Scream—with new showrunners Michael Gans and Richard Register—will premiere on MTV on May 31.
