MTV has cancelled Teen Mom 3, leaving viewers one less place to go to feel simultaneously great and horrible about themselves. Teen Mom 3 premiered earlier this year and featured moms Briana DeJesus, Alex Sekella, Katie Yeager, and McKenzie Douthit, along with their children and ineloquent baby daddies. While the show’s first season ended with the girls struggling with relationship issues and trying to balance school and motherhood, anyone seeking resolution beyond that will have to turn to Twitter or gossip blogs. (Sad, sad spoiler alert: Douthit is pregnant with her second baby.)
However, lest the world be free of shows that both glorify and vilify teen motherhood, MTV notes that its far more successful franchise sequel Teen Mom 2 will return with its fifth season on January 20.
