MTV has Ex On The Beach

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Thursday, April 12. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

Ex On The Beach (MTV, 9 p.m.): A week after MTV opened its door back up to Jersey Shore—only for MTV to return a few hours later to find Jersey Shore passed out on its couch, spooning the duck phone—it unveils its latest innovation in the art of mortifying the telegenic and naïve at a vacation destination. Importing a format that’s been a hit for the channel’s overseas cousins, Ex On The Beach sends 10 “celebrity singles” to Hawaii, then slowly reveals that it has also booked rooms for the reasons that those celebrities are single. It’s all the amenities of a luxury vacation with the teeth-gritting tension of running into an ex while they’re leaving a coffeeshop and you’re on your way in, and it gets a special preview tonight, prior to its official premiere on the 19th.

Regular coverage

Gotham (Fox, 8 p.m.)
RuPaul’s Drag Race (VH1, 8 p.m.)
Arrow (The CW, 9 p.m.)
Scandal (ABC, 10 p.m.)
Atlanta (FX, 10 p.m.)

Wild card

30 For 30: The Last Days Of Knight (ESPN+): It’s a first for ESPN’s documentary series and its new OTT service: This look back at basketball coach Bobby Knight and the scandal that led to the end of his storied run at Indiana University will make its debut on ESPN+, along side the rest of the 30 For 30 library.
