MTV’s Scream TV series now has a cast and a director
Continuing the network’s ongoing efforts to recycle teen-focused movies so old they’d be able to see themselves in theaters, MTV has announced the cast and director for the pilot of its TV adaptation of Scream. Music video director Jamie Travers has been tapped to direct, with Willa Fitzgerald as the star. According to Deadline, Fitzgerald will play Emma Duval, described first and foremost as “a classic beauty,” which certainly bodes well for nuanced and thoughtful characterization. Emma will interact with the various “artsy loners” and “creative computer geniuses” previously outlined in April.
Fitzgerald will be joined by fellow stars Amy Forsyth, John Karna, Carlson Young, Amadeus Serafini, and a creeping sense that this Scream thing seems very familiar, like a hazy memory of a movie glimpsed as a child, or overheard while floating in the womb.
