Mumford & Sons, The Black Keys, Fun, and more take home Grammys

There was no Adele-style sweep at this year’s Grammy Awards. While Mumford & Sons earned an Album of the Year victory for Babel, The Black Keys actually won more awards—four total, including Best Rock Album. Gotye took home three Grammys, including Record of the Year for “Somebody That I Used To Know,” his duet with Kimbra. Gotye's album, Making Mirrors, also won Best Alternative Album, beating out acts like Tom Waits, M83, and Fiona Apple. Lena Dunham's favorite band Fun won Best New Artist and Song of the Year for “We Are Young,” the single that, to date, has sold more than 6 million copies. Frank Ocean took home two Grammys: Best Urban Contemporary Album, a category in which he bested a not-so-gracious Chris Brown, and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “No Church In The Wild” off Watch The Throne, an honor he shared with Jay-Z, Kanye West, and The-Dream.

Only about 10 total Grammy awards were given out during the actual telecast. Other awards—like Best Comedy Album, which went to Jimmy Fallon’s Blow Your Pants Off—were given out in a ceremony earlier in the day. There Rihanna’s “We Found Love” also won for Best Short Form Music Video, while Mumford & Sons’ Big Easy Express won the Best Long Form category. Bjork took home Best Recording Package for Biophilia, the deluxe edition of which came packaged with 10 chrome-plated tuning forks, each adjusted to the tone of a different track from the album.
