My Burrito Finder could be the most useful app ever developed

What is it that people really want from technology in this still-young millennium? News? Information? Entertainment? A way to connect with other human beings from across the country and around the world? Sure, all that stuff is great, but what they truly want sometimes is an enticing combination of meats, vegetables, cheese, sour cream, beans, and rice, all wrapped in a snug flour tortilla.

Luckily, the creators of a new app entitled My Burrito Finder want to help people connect with what’s truly important in these volatile times, i.e., delicious food. The premise couldn’t be simpler: Users enter their location (city, state, zip, or neighborhood), and My Burrito will tell them the closest places to purchase burritos. The app takes its data from Yelp and Google Maps. The project originates with Hughes WD, a website design company. The creator’s mission statement: “I’ll find your next burrito. I’ll also try to locate you and give you a direct route to the restaurant.” For a person going through severe burrito withdrawal, like Will Ferrell in The Campaign, such an app could be a godsend.

Now, let’s imagine, for the sake of argument, that a tourist was wandering down Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, disoriented and hungry for Mexican food. What are the burrito-buying options closest to the infamous Studs Theater? Plenty. There’s Taco Love on Sunset, The King Of Grill on La Brea, Dos Burritos on Hollywood Boulevard, and many more. In fact, if the visit to Studs goes well enough, one of these restaurants could be a great place to take a date afterward. Technology is a beautiful thing.
