My Super Sweet MTV Original Film

My Super Sweet MTV Original Film

This weekend, MTV aired My Super Sweet 16: The Movie, an original, made-for-MTV film in the grand tradition of original, made-for-MTV films like 2Gether, Wuthering Heights, Jailbait and Carmen: A Hip-Hopera.

But unlike those hollow, empty films, all of which didn't have a generational message beyond "Duh," "Tweens!" and "Beyonce sing now, you watch," My Super Sweet 16: The Movie had a very clear, very distinct message to impart to the MTV generation–a message it delivered with all the subtlety of 15 angry, rich cheerleaders in colorful sweaters filled with money and bedazzled Sidekicks shouting at each other through 15 megaphones made out of uninteresting, rigid high school clique heirarchies.

That message, of course, was: You are dumb.

A secondary message, though it's not evident in the trailer, was: Eat at Chili's.
