Mystery Science Theater 3000 announces Netflix debut, new writers, returning cast
At the recent MST3K reunion, series creator Joel Hodgson teased some big news for the show at Comic-Con, and tonight that news has been revealed via the show’s new home at Netflix. First, some exciting news from the writer’s room: Joel McHale and Dan Harmon have joined the show as writers under previously announced head writer Elliott Kalan. They’ll be working alongside two members of the original crew, Bill Corbett and Mary Jo Pehl, who have joined the show’s writing staff along with booking onscreen appearances we’ll tell you more about below.
It’s also been revealed that the new season of MST3K will appear on Netflix in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand:
Casting-wise, Bill Corbett will also be returning to the show to reprise his character of Brain Guy in a guest-starring role. Likewise, Corbett’s RiffTrax compatriot Kevin Murphy will appear as Professor Bobo, and, completing the late-season Mads trio, Mary Jo Pehl is set to guest star as Pearl Forrester. Hampton Yount and Baron Vaughn will take over in Corbett and Murphy’s roles as Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo, and Felicia Day will co-star as a new branch of the Forrester family tree, Kinga Forrester. Jonah Ray will take over as Jonah, the newest jumpsuit-clad schmuck to be held prisoner and forced to watch bad movies aboard the Satellite of Love.
