Narcos’ Boyd Holbrook to play the bad guy in Wolverine 3

Narcos star Boyd Holbrook is about to face an opponent even more wily and hard to put down than notorious drug kingpin Pablo Escobar: an angry Canadian with swords in his hands. Yep, Holbrook has joined the cast of the supposedly R-rated Wolverine 3, where he’ll be playing the villainous foil to Hugh Jackman’s feral-but-heroic Canuck.

James Mangold is directing the film, returning to the character after 2013’s The Wolverine. He’ll be working from a script by relative newcomer David James Kelly, for what’s expected to be Jackman’s eighth and final turn as the character. Holbrook, meanwhile—who’s also expected to return to Narcos when it comes back for its already announced second season—is playing an unnamed character who’s described as a “relentless, calculating, and intense head of security for a global enterprise.” And while that doesn’t necessarily sound like the most exciting final opponent for one of the most iconic movie characters of the last 20 years, we should probably give Holbrook’s character the benefit of the doubt. After all, maybe he’s secretly a ninja, or a Sentinel, or maybe just someone with a shotgun or something installed in his foot, to help him even the odds against an unkillable monster man with metal in his bones.
