Nasim Pedrad is developing her own show for Fox

Variety reports that Saturday Night Live alum Nasim Pedrad has struck a deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television and Fox Broadcasting Company to create, write, and star in her own series for the Fox network.

Pedrad left SNL last year after five seasons with the show to co-star in the Fox sitcom Mulaney, which has since been canceled. Currently, she has a recurring role on New Girl’s fourth season as Winston’s (Lamorne Morris) training officer and partner. Pedrad will also be a regular on Fox’s upcoming Ryan Murphy anthology series Scream Queens, about a string of murders on a college campus.

But while her schedule is already full, having her own series will give Pedrad the opportunity to bring more of herself and her creative ideas to the Fox family table. The premise remains unknown, but Pedrad blossomed into a strong force on Saturday Night Live during her five seasons, and hopefully the fate of her new series will be better than that of Mulaney’s.
