Nathan For You won't be returning for season 5, unless this is just another wacky scheme

Get ready for a real taste of poo-flavored frozen yogurt: As reported by Pitchfork, Comedy Central has confirmed that Nathan For You won’t be returning for a fifth season. As a little bit of silver lining, it sounds like the decision to stop the show came from creator and host Nathan Fielder, not the soulless Viacom corporation, with Comedy Central releasing a statement that said, “[Fielder’s] innovative and quick-witted humor has made the show a comedic touchstone and we’re proud to have been a part of it. We respect Nathan’s decision to the series and look forward to geeking out over his next project.”

The series revolved on Fielder—who graduated from one of Canada’s top business schools with really good grades—as he tried to help regular people and small businesses solve their problems in clever and unique ways, like generating buzz for an ice cream store with the aforementioned poo-flavored yogurt or (in his most famous stunt) by elegantly parodying a real coffee chain. Of course, the thing about Nathan For You is that you can never really tell when something is a Nathan For You stunt until you see it happen on the show, like when he spent an episode detailing how he fabricated a funny anecdote for a talk show.

For all we know, Comedy Central could air a new episode of Nathan For You in a few months/years that involves Fielder working his way through the network’s corporate structure just so he can put out a press release saying his show won’t be returning. Seriously, what is life if not an increasingly absurd gag on Nathan For You? Either way, Fielder still raised a bunch of money for Holocaust awareness with his goofy show.
