National Lampoon to start producing original movies again
After nearly 18 years of liberally slapping its name on seemingly every frat-boy comedy to come down the pike—including critically reviled titles like Van Wilder and Dorm Daze—the once-venerated comedic institution known as National Lampoon is ready to get back to producing its own shitty films, beginning with this year's National Lampoon's Bag Boy (starring Dennis Farina and Brooke Shields) and continuing with National Lampoon's Ratko: The Dictator's Son, directed by Savage Steve Holland (Better Off Dead). The newly energized company also has hopes that its website and the college cable television network it runs can continue to lure in the undergrads, which chief executive Daniel Laikin thinks it can, noting, "College boys still love alcohol, they still love girls, they love to have a good time – those things haven't changed."
