NBC checks the back room, finds nine more episodes of Superstore
NBC has ordered nine more episodes of its big-box retail sitcom Superstore, after the America Ferrera-starring series posted strong ratings with its second season premiere last night. A midseason entry in last year’s schedule, Superstore got a big boost last month, when NBC previewed its second season during its coverage of the Olympic games.
Co-starring Ben Feldman and The Kids In The Hall’s Mark McKinney, the series centers on a Walmart-esque lowest shopping denominator in St. Louis, Missouri. NBC gave the series—and its various pregnancies, romances, and low-key retail dramas—a preliminary second season renewal back in February, but waited until today to pick it up for the back nine as well.
