NBC, CW refuse ad for Dixie Chicks movie
Fearing perhaps that political provocation would angry up the blood before, say, Deal Or No Deal or Friday Night Smackdown, both NBC and the CW are refusing to run ads for Shut Up & Sing, Barbara Kopple and Cecelia Peck's new documentary about the Dixie Chicks. The ad, which can be viewed here, features Chicks' singer Nathalie Maine's infamous comment about being ashamed that President Bush is from Texas, as well as Bush's reaction to the controversy. Needless to say, Harvey Weinstein, whose Weinstein Company opens the film in limited release today, isn't taking this rejection lightly.
