NBC decides to take AP Bio with Glenn Howerton this year

It’s only May, so it might seem a little early to be picking classes for next semester and shows for next season, but NBC has no interest in waiting until all of the good classes have already filled up. According to Variety, the network has given a series order to AP Bio, a comedy series written by Saturday Night Live’s Mike O’Brien and executive produced by Seth Meyers and Lorne Michaels.

The series will star It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’s Glenn Howerton as a “philosophy scholar” who misses out on getting his dream job and decided to work as a high school biology teacher instead. Once he realizes that he has a whole class of smart kids he can boss around, he decides to use his new position to get revenge on the people who screwed him over. Basically, it’s like House Of Cards in a school, but presumably with fewer murders. Patton Oswalt will also appear in the show, reportedly playing the school’s principal.

Also, it’s worth noting that this news doesn’t necessarily mean anything for Howerton’s future at Paddy’s Pub, but it definitely might mean something.
