NBC developing a puppet sitcom with The Jim Henson Company

Arriving just in time to capitalize on this week’s reinvigorated interest in Muppets and briefly distract you from ranting about Community by appealing to your giggling inner child, Deadline reports that NBC has partnered with The Jim Henson Company to develop The New Nabors, “a comedy about a human family and the repercussions they encounter living next door to a family of puppets.” A family of affable naifs with rich baritone singing voices and a love for Jesus? Probably not, though reportedly the show’s title pays deliberate homage to Jim Nabors, so anything’s possible. 30 Rock executive producer John Riggi is developing the show, which will be the first official NBC project starring a puppet since ALF, at least until Whitney Cummings finds a way to talk out of her vagina.
