NBC developing new Pilgrim-based workplace sitcom

Perhaps hedging its bets should Outsourced prove to be as awful as its promos make it out to be, or should The Office’s plans to stagger on post-Steve Carell not exactly pan out, NBC has commissioned another workplace comedy from Peter Tolan, the veteran TV producer who most recently co-created FX’s Rescue Me. However, the hook of Tolan’s Brave New World—while sadly not about the soma-fueled hijinks of workers at The World State Conditioning Centre—is that it takes place at a Plymouth Plantation-type living museum where the staff reenacts the day-to-day drudgery of colonial living. So it’s sort of a cross between Party Down and Parks And Recreation and those scenes from Chuck Palahniuk’s Choke, we guess, which could be funny. Beth Grant, you should probably call your agent.
