Having recently used up all the concepts in its Survivor/Bachelor hybrid, NBC is now developing the summer reality show The Catch, which is about people catching things besides venereal diseases. Instead contestants will be asked to catch things that are thrown at them, like “balls dropped from a helicopter into a mud pit,” and that’s pretty much it. Like the sort of ordinary catching you do every day around the household, only more extreme. The Catch promises to “do for the backyard ball toss what ABC's Wipeout did for obstacle courses,” which is to say it will feature a lot of people getting hit right in the face. RIGHT IN THE FACE.
