NBC gives series orders to Chicago Med, Blindspot, and another medical drama

To the surprise of no one, NBC has given series orders to two new medical dramas and a show about a naked woman who is covered in tattoos. Evidently, NBC is a network that knows how to give people what they want. The first medical drama is Chicago Med, the Chicago Fire/Chicago PD spinoff that will almost certainly be a crossover-happy hit that continues to expand the Dick Wolf Universe that NBC has had so much success with lately. Chicago Med will star Oliver Platt, S. Epatha Merkerson, and The Walking Dead’s Laurie Holden. The other is Heartbreaker, which will star Melissa George as Dr. Alex Panttiere, a famous heart surgeon who—according to Deadline—”operates on her own terms.” Get it?

Finally, the show about a naked lady covered in tattoos is Blindspot, which—as far as we know—is the only show about a naked lady covered in tattoos. It will star Thor’s Jamie Alexander as a naked lady covered in tattoos, and it’s being executive produced by Arrow‘s Greg Berlanti. Deadline describes the plot as “vast” and “international,” and it involves the naked lady covered in tattoos working with the FBI to solve mysteries that all relate to her tattoos. We think it sounds alright, but it could probably use more medical drama-style elements.
