NBC is developing a female-led Grimm spin-off

Hey, remember Grimm? The supernatural procedural on NBC about a guy hunting monsters that ran for six seasons because it aired virtually unopposed on Friday nights? Well, it’s coming back for a new spin-off, just a year after the original show ended its final season. According to Deadline, the new show will be about a woman who discovers she’s a Grimm (basically a line of monster-hunting warriors), and it will be written by Iron Fist veteran Melissa Glenn. No actors are attached yet, including a new lead, but Deadline expects there will be some “returning fan favorites” from Grimm’s original incarnation.

Assuming this project works out, NBC will most likely dump it back on Friday nights like the original Grimm, giving the network another easy ratings machine on a day when most people don’t watch TV. Plus, even though the other series just ended, this might even satisfy TV viewers’ unquenchable thirst for nostalgia.
