NBC is live-streaming Terry Crews painting holiday pictures, and it's that Bob Ross kind of soothing
Look, we know when we’re being pandered to. But that doesn’t somehow make the pandering any less effective, especially when it hits upon our deep and abiding affection for Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Terry Crews. So, yes, there’s something almost algorithmically perfect about the video concept “watch Terry Crews quietly paint a lovely holiday scene live while talking calmly to the audience,” but fuck, what are we supposed to do? Not watch it?
We’ve written about Crews’ art career before; he’s a well-known illustrator, having even spent parts of his early career as a courtroom illustrator for newspapers. It doesn’t hurt that his vibe is extremely Bob Ross, albeit a Bob Ross who hangs out by a fireplace adorned with pictures of the cast of America’s Got Talent and B99. (He even busts out a “Happy little trees” at one point.)
The video is roughly an hour in length, and will apparently be looping on YouTube for the next 24 hours. In the meantime, there are certainly worse ways to while away a cozy Friday afternoon.
