NBC is making Dolly Parton TV movies, plural
NBC announced today that it is developing a series of TV movies based on the life and storytelling of national treasure Dolly Parton, prompting a rainbow made of butterflies to spontaneously form over the network’s TCA event in Los Angeles. Presumably the result of a visit to the Chasing Rainbows museum at Parton’s eponymous theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, the partnership will produce projects based on Parton’s “songs, stories and inspiring life.”
While this points immediately to autobiographical songs like “Coat Of Many Colors,” about Parton’s life growing up impoverished in Appalachia, or the story recently retold on Drunk History about Parton’s musical breakup with singing partner Porter Wagoner, we’re personally rooting for a countrified Sex And The City-style sitcom based on the video for “Romeo.” Those hoping for the long-awaited unveiling of Parton’s secret tattoos, however, are bound to be disappointed.
