NBC, its knees shaking and its stomach tied up in knots, has decided to take the plunge with Marry Me as the network orders five additional episodes of the David Caspe comedy. That brings the order up to 18 episodes, plenty of time for the show to abandon a conventional narrative and get down to the rapid-fire joke structure Caspe does so well. Marry Me’s romance with NBC has been a passionate one so far—the show is currently the No. 2 new broadcast comedy in the coveted 18-49 age range, although we’ll see what happens when the honeymoon phase is over and new sitcoms with younger, more attractive demographics come along.
