NBC just can't get enough supernatural crime dramas, orders Grimm from Buffy and Angel writers

Next year’s already-crowded field of supernatural crime procedurals now has one more contender: NBC has just ordered Grimm, a “dark but fantastical cop drama about a world in which characters inspired by Grimm’s Fairy Tales exist,” not long after giving a pickup to Ronald Moore’s very similar 17th Precinct—the “adult Harry Potter”-like tale we first reported on in September which has now been fleshed out as a “show about cops working a town where people have magical powers.” And of course, both NBC dramas could run up against Fox’s Magical Law, that show we told you about in November that also concerns cops and lawyers dealing with supernatural beings. (NBC’s Zombies Vs. Vampires, yet another show about cops and lawyers dealing with supernatural beings, has apparently yet to move past the pitch stage.) Interestingly, Grimm comes from a team comprised of Buffy The Vampire Slayer writer-producer and Angel co-creator David Greenwalt and fellow Angel writer Jim Kouf, who were both probably like, “You know, if everyone’s just going to essentially remake season five of Angel, we may as well get in on it.”
