NBC not amused by O'Brien's spendthrift ways
Those who tuned into the final Wednesday episode of The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien caught a new spin on O'Brien's determination to slam the door on his way out: the most expensive sketch imaginable. The bit involved a $1.5 million Bugatti Veyron dressed up as a mouse along with the original Rolling Stones recording of "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction." The car alone was a pricey item (even if it was loaned by a museum) but the real splurge was on the royalties NBC would have to pay for each repeat of the episode. The folks at Jalopnik have noted, however, that NBC.com and Hulu are not going to play—or pay—along and simply excised the clip from the online episode, even leaving in an awkward reference to it from Adam Sandler. Watch the "full episode" online and you'll see anything but. Fortunately, the keepers of the internet have preserved the bit, even if NBC doesn't want to.
In other news, O'Brien's final show airs Friday and now has a guest list: Tom Hanks, Will Ferrell, and Neil Young. There will, no doubt, also be some surprise guests. Is another Norm Macdonald appearance too much to ask for?
