NBC officially banishes Powerless to the Phantom Zone

As foreshadowed way back in April when the show was abruptly pulled from the schedule, NBC has now officially canceled DC Comics comedy show Powerless. The show went through a lot of trouble just to get on the air, mostly by shifting its basic premise from a simple insurance company that happens to exist in a superhero world to an actual subsidiary of Batman’s Wayne Industries that develops gadgets to protect people from superhero battles, but the concept was still apparently too weird for the average TV viewer. Powerless premiered with pretty lousy ratings, and despite a cast that included Vanessa Hudgens, Alan Tudyk, Danny Pudi, and Ron Funches, it never managed to catch on.

Thankfully, there are still a dozen other superhero shows on TV, even if none of them are straight-up comedies like Powerless was.
