NBC orders pilots from Mindy Kaling, Tina Fey, and Bill Lawrence

Not to be outdone by the pilots Fox ordered today, Variety is reporting that NBC has just ordered three pilots of its own. Plus, just to flex a little more, all three of them come from high-profile creators with experience making hit TV shows.

First up is an untitled single-camera comedy from Mindy Kaling and Charlie Grandy. We previously reported that it was about “hot brothers,” which is still pretty much accurate. Essentially, it’s about “a charismatic gym owner” who lives with his “gorgeous idiot” brother. One day, an “old high school fling” of the charismatic brother shows up with a teenage son that he never knew existed, shaking up his previously simple life. Kaling will play the old fling in a recurring role.

Next up is The Sackett Sisters, which comes from 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt masterminds Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. It’s about a pair of estranged sisters who are forced to come back together after they “perform an act of public heroism.” The Variety story doesn’t say anything about whether or not Fey might star in this show, but they’d probably mention that if it were a real possibility.

Finally, there’s Spaced Out, from Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence and Undateable’s Adam Sztykiel. It’s a workplace comedy about “a working class genius” who has trouble fitting in with a new team as they try to build a rocket that can go to mars. Hopefully it’s more Scrubs than Undateable.
