Zombies Vs. Vampires is more than just a topic for debate as to which horror trope has become more diminished through oversaturation—it’s also the name of a recently acquired NBC spec script that’s being produced under McG’s Wonderland banner. The show is described as a “fun police procedural” (as in a police procedural that is fun, not a procedural about those who police other people’s fun) set in a world where zombies are part of everyday society—not unlike AMC’s Walking Dead, but with the twist that one of the show’s two leads is secretly a vampire, which surely leads to some fun complications as he finds himself assigned to a special squad formed to deal with “zombie crime.” Throw in a shirtless werewolf and make everyone fuck each other and you’ve got yourself a zeitgeist stew.
