NBC may have done an awful job airing the 2016 Olympics, but it still owns the rights to broadcast the games and it’s still dedicated to squeezing as much money out of them as possible, so it’s getting ready to launch an entire TV network dedicated to the Olympics next month. According to Deadline, its official name will be Olympic Channel: Home Of Team USA, and it will offer year-round Olympics-related programming “with a focus on American athletes and teams.” Beyond that, the International Olympic Committee will also produce content about athletes and teams that aren’t from the United States, but that stuff will hopefully air sparingly on Olympic Channel: Home Of Team USA—after all, this is Olympic Channel: Home Of Team USA, not a plain and boring Olympic Channel.
Olympic Channel: Home Of Team USA will be available to “most subscribers” on Altice, AT&T DirecTV, Comcast, Spectrum, and Verizon, as well as streaming providers Fubo, Hulu, PlayStation Vue, and the recently launched YouTube TV, and it’s set to launch on July 15. Hopefully, Olympic Channel: Home Of Team USA will be available through other cable companies in the future, because it would truly be a shame if some people were unable to watch Olympic Channel: Home Of Team USA.
