NBC tries turning its The IT Crowd remake on again

Deadline reports that NBC has committed to producing an American version of The IT Crowd, the first time this has happened since the last time it happened back in 2007. The project has been placed in the hands of remake specialist Bill Lawrence, producer of the Rush Hour TV series, who will hopefully avoid the temptation to produce a crossover event where a mismatched duo of cops teams up to solve the murder of Douglas Reynholm’s wife. The network has given the remake a put pilot commitment, meaning that at the very least they’ll shoot a pilot, but as Krysten Ritter can tell you, that doesn’t mean anything in terms of actual air time. The first Americanized IT Crowd, starring original series star Richard Ayoade and a pre-Community Joel McHale, never made it past the pilot stage, but perhaps NBC turning it off and on again will help.
