Neil Diamond reveals "Sweet Caroline"
After decades of secretiveness, Neil Diamond has revealed that the inspiration of his most enduring hit, "Sweet Caroline," was actually Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, daughter of John F. Kennedy. According to the 66-year-old singer, Diamond was a "young, broke songwriter" when he came across a photo of the President's daughter in a magazine: "It was a picture of a little girl dressed to the nines in her riding gear, next to her pony," Diamond said. "It was such an innocent, wonderful picture, I immediately felt there was a song in there." Which is sort of sweet…except for lyrics like "Touching me, touching you," and "And now I, I look at the night, whooo / And it don't seem so lonely / We fill it up with only two…How can I hurt when holding you?" that tread in creepy, R. Kelly waters. Suddenly "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon" takes on a whole new meaning…
